About AstroSlez

Hello, my name is Ivan, and I am an amateur astrophotographer from Croatia.

I created AstroSlez to document my journey through astrophotography, share the images I capture, and help other beginners learn from both my successes and mistakes. Like many people entering the hobby, I started with modest equipment, a lot of curiosity, and very little experience.

Over time, astrophotography became much more than simply taking pictures of the night sky. It became a continuous process of learning about astronomy, imaging techniques, tracking, image processing, and working around challenges such as weather and light pollution.

My primary focus is deep-sky astrophotography using accessible equipment. Most of the images featured on this website were captured with a Nikon D3400 DSLR, camera lenses, and a portable tracking mount from my backyard in Croatia.

I enjoy photographing nebulae, galaxies, star fields, the Moon, the Sun, and widefield night sky scenes. One of the goals of AstroSlez is to show that astrophotography does not require a permanent observatory or expensive equipment. Many of the images in my gallery were captured using a beginner-friendly setup and a willingness to experiment, learn, and spend time under the stars.
